Stop the forwards and story shares members bring into your group.

Outbound — “stop members forwarding my group’s messages out.” No bot can do this, Limzo included. It is a Telegram setting: open the group in Telegram and use Edit → Group Type → Saving content to turn saving off. Know the limits before relying on it — it exists for private groups and channels only, only the owner can change it, it does not stop a screenshot or someone retyping your text, and it does nothing at all about content arriving in your group.

Inbound — “stop members dumping forwards from other channels into my chat.” Telegram has no setting for this. The group Permissions list covers sending messages, media, embedded links, polls, pinning, adding users and changing info — there is no forwarding toggle in it, whatever some guides imply. This is the half a bot has to handle, and it is what the rest of this page is about.

It is one dropdown in the Limzo Mini App: Moderate → Rules → Forwards & story shares. Each level is a strict superset of the one below it.

• Allow everything — this rule goes quiet. It does not mean forwards go unchecked: your other rules still run on the same messages, so a forward carrying promo text, a blocked @handle, a blocked domain or a scam contact is still removed by them.
• Smart — recommended (the default) — removes story shares that did not come from a source your group already trusts, and leaves ordinary forwards completely alone. This is the right level for almost every group.
• Also block channel forwards — everything Smart does, plus every forward that came from a channel. This is the level for the classic problem: members pasting other channels’ promo posts into your chat.
• Block every forward — adds the rest: forwards from individual users, forwards where Telegram does not reveal the original author, and forwards from other groups. Strict, and honestly it will also catch forwards your members post in good faith.

One thing worth knowing: story handling is identical at Smart, “also block channel forwards” and “block every forward”. The stricter levels only add forward blocking — they never tighten stories. Change the level any time in the Mini App, no commands. It is free on every plan, and if a saved value is ever unreadable it falls back to Smart rather than to off, so a group cannot end up silently unprotected.

The exemptions are what makes a strict level survivable. Never affected: your admins and the group owner, the trusted users you list, forwards from @handles on your allowed list, the automatic posts your linked channel pushes into its discussion group, a member manually re-forwarding your own linked channel, and a forward of something that was originally posted in this very chat. At Block every forward, a re-share of a message written by someone who already talks in your group is left alone too, as long as Telegram reveals who wrote it. If you want to allow or block one specific source rather than a whole category, that is the separate allowed and blocked @username lists, not this ladder.

When something is removed, that is the entire consequence: the message goes and the member’s record stays clean. No mute, no kick, no ban — and it never counts toward the repeat-offender ladder, and never adds the source to Limzo’s cross-group blocklist. Every removal is written to the moderation log and shows up in the Moderate tab’s recent actions, so nothing happens invisibly. Two honest caveats: a story share is only spared when its poster has a public @handle that is on one of your allow lists, so a story from your own channel is removed unless you add that handle; and none of this works until the Moderate master switch is on and Limzo has the Delete messages admin right. No ban permission is needed or used. It is one layer of Limzo’s wider smart moderation, and it only applies to groups and supergroups — Limzo does not run inside channels.
