Anti-spam & moderation

Remove links from your Telegram group — silently.

Telegram has no setting that stops members posting links. Limzo does it with one switch: links to sites you have not approved are deleted the moment they appear, your own links and your admins keep working, and nothing is posted in the chat afterwards — no notice, no advert. Free on every plan.

Every way a link gets in

Typed URLs, hyperlinks hidden behind a word, links in photo and video captions, button links, a plain domain with no http — and links added later by editing an old message. All of them are checked.

Nothing left in the chat

The message disappears and that is all your members see. Limzo posts no “link removed” line and no promotion after a deletion, so the cleanup never becomes its own kind of spam.

Your own links keep working

Admins and the owner are never touched. Add the sites you trust to Allowed domains and the people you trust to Trusted users; links already in your group description are allowed from day one.

How to block links in a Telegram group

Telegram’s own group Permissions cannot do it. The closest option, Embed links, only hides the preview card under a link — the link itself is still posted and still tappable. Stopping links takes a bot with the right to delete messages. With Limzo it is three steps:

  • Add Limzo as an admin with the Delete messages right. Add Ban users as well if you want people who post links to be muted.
  • Turn on Moderation in the Limzo Mini App. It is off by default, so nothing is removed until you say so.
  • Open Spam & links and switch on Delete unknown links.

That is the whole setup. There are no commands to learn, you can change it at any time, and it is free on every plan.

What gets removed — and what stays

With the switch on, Limzo deletes any message from a regular member that links to a site outside your Allowed domains list. How the link is written makes no difference: a full URL, a hyperlink hidden behind text, a caption, a button, a plain domain, or an edit to a message that was clean when it was posted.

What stays:

  • Admins, the owner and trusted users are never moderated. The Free plan has three trusted users; Pro and Ultra have up to 300.
  • Allowed domains — your website, your shop, your docs. Links found in your group description are added for you when Limzo joins.
  • Mainstream platforms — everyday sites members share in normal conversation, such as YouTube or Wikipedia, are left alone, so nobody is punished for posting a video. To remove those too, add them to Blocked domains; for regular members your block list always wins.
  • Telegram links — links to other channels, bots and invite links are covered by a separate switch, Block promo @mentions, which is on by default.

So this is a filter for links you have not approved, not a blanket ban on every URL — which is what keeps a strict group livable.

What happens after a link is removed

In the group: nothing. The message is deleted, and no reply, notice or advert takes its place.

For the sender, your group’s Offender action applies. It lives under Warnings & penalties and is shared by every moderation rule:

  • Mute (the default) — the sender is muted for the time you set, 8 hours unless you change it. A third offense within 24 hours becomes a ban, unless you switch that escalation off.
  • Detect only — the link is still deleted, but nobody is muted or banned. Choose this if you only want the links gone.
  • Ban — for groups under constant attack.

Every removal is written to the Activity log in the Mini App, where an admin can undo a mute or a ban in one tap. Private alerts to admins are optional and off by default. One separate feature does speak in the chat: the link safety scan replies with a warning under a link flagged as phishing or malware. It has its own switch, explained with every other moderation setting.

Link removal is one layer of Limzo’s wider anti-spam protection. It works in groups and supergroups; Limzo does not run inside channels.

Common questions

Telegram has no built-in setting for it — the Embed links permission only hides link previews. Add Limzo as an admin with the Delete messages right, turn on Moderation in the Mini App, then open Spam & links and switch on Delete unknown links. From then on, links to sites outside your allowed list are removed automatically, while admins and trusted users can still post them.
No. The message is removed and nothing replaces it: no notice, no reply to the sender, no promotion. The removal is recorded in the Activity log inside the Mini App, and admins can opt in to private alerts.
By default, links to mainstream platforms such as YouTube are left alone so ordinary sharing is not punished. Add any site you do not want to Blocked domains and it is removed like the rest. Admins and trusted users are always exempt.
Yes. Delete unknown links and the allowed and blocked domain lists are available on the Free plan. Pro and Ultra raise the trusted-users limit from 3 to 300 and add extras such as auto-delete for links flagged as dangerous.
